What 4.9 million views taught us about launch videos

Lessons from the AKOOL Live Camera launch film: clarity beats spectacle, feeling beats features, and reuse is where the money is.

When AKOOL asked us to make the launch film for Live Camera, the temptation was to show off the technology. Real-time translation, face swap, AI avatars. Impressive stuff, easy to demo. But a feature list on video is still a feature list.

The brief we set ourselves instead: make a first-time viewer feel what real-time AI video means for how people connect. Clear enough that anyone gets it, cinematic enough that they feel it. The campaign pulled 4.9 million views and the film anchored the product waitlist.

Three lessons worth stealing

First, clarity is the spectacle. The moments that performed best were the simplest: two people speaking different languages, understanding each other instantly. No graphics package can compete with a viewer going oh, I get it.

Second, shoot for reuse from day one. The same film got cut into pieces for e-commerce pages, support articles, and enterprise sales decks. That reuse was planned before the shoot, not discovered after it. It multiplied the value of one production budget several times over.

Third, the launch film is infrastructure, not decoration. It became the standard answer to what does this product do in every channel the company operates. When one asset answers that question for a year, the production cost stops looking like a cost.
