The recruiting video your careers page is missing
Candidates research you the way customers do. A short, honest look inside the team beats another paragraph about your mission.
Before a strong candidate takes your interview, they do the same thing a customer does before a demo. They look for evidence. The careers page gets read, the LinkedIn gets scrolled, and somewhere in that research they form a picture of what working with you would feel like. Most companies leave that picture entirely to chance.
Text cannot carry it. Every careers page says the same things, because mission statements all sound alike. What candidates actually want to know is simpler: what does this place feel like, who would I sit next to, and do these people seem like they mean it.
What works on camera
The recruiting videos that work are not tours of the snack wall. They are two or three real employees talking about a real project, filmed where the work happens. No script, no executive reading values off a teleprompter. The production can be simple. The honesty cannot.
One well-made culture film keeps working for years. It runs on the careers page, gets sent by recruiters before onsites, plays at university events, and gives hiring managers something to share that is not a job description. For companies hiring in a competitive market, it is some of the highest-value footage money can buy.
If your pipeline is full of candidates who ghost after the first call, look at what they can see of you from the outside. If the answer is a logo and a paragraph, that is the problem, and it is fixable in a single shoot day.
